J.K. FRANKO IS BACK, KILLING JOHNNY MIRACLE

Hello all!

It’s been a while since I last checked in with you, but I’ve been busy working on a series of projects that I can finally share with you! I’m excited to announce that I will be releasing two brand-new books soon.

The first, KILLING JOHNNY MIRACLE, is a thrilling and suspenseful crime novel set in Texas with plenty of revenge and perfect crime elements. If you enjoyed the Eye for Eye Trilogy, then this book is a must-read. A little teaser from the inspiration image is included above!

The second book is entirely different and came about through my involvement with a writing circle in 2021. I’ll be revealing more about this mysterious project soon, but expect the unexpected!

Both books are set to be published this year, with the first releasing in the spring and the second in the summer. Although no specific publication date has been confirmed yet, stay tuned for more information in due course.

You may be wondering what else I’ve been up to over the past few years. Well, I’m happy to announce that Grupo Planeta publishers from Spain approached me about the Spanish language rights to the Talion series of novels. This inspired a major rebrand of the books, with new covers and a new series name: The Roy Cruise Series. Check out the new fancy book covers and trailer below.

Working with Planeta has expanded my reach as an author substantially. However, it has also meant that I’ve had to do a lot more marketing, which has kept me busy. Nonetheless, I’m back and eager to thrill you with some new and exciting stories and characters.

I’ve received many emails from readers, and I apologize for not being able to respond to each one. However, given the popularity of some questions, I’ve gone ahead and answered them below.

What advice do you have for aspiring writers?

Writing is like running a marathon. You don’t just sign up and crank it out on the day of the race. You’ll likely injure yourself, and you won’t finish. To run a marathon, you must run hundreds of miles in the months leading up to race day. A typical novice training plan to finish a marathon on race day will have you run about 500 miles over 20 weeks. So if you want to write, write a lot. Before I finished Eye for Eye, I wrote seven other novels. Some were terrible, and some were better, but the more you write, the better you’ll get. I’d also say that connecting with other authors can significantly help your work.

What’s one of the things you love most about being an author?

Creating fun characters is one of the great joys of writing, such as villains like Slipknot and Frank Stern. In my upcoming novels, Johnny Miracle is a great bad guy—someone you will love to hate. It’s the little things that characters do that bring them to life, and these can be shown to the reader through inner dialogue, interactions with other characters, or just saving the cat. The fun part is coming up with new ways to create those little moments.

Will Roy Cruise be making a return to the series?

I get this question a lot. Right now, all of my time has been taken working on these other projects, but I appreciate that Roy Cruise holds a special place in the hearts of many. All I can say is never say never!

Bonus question (from my publisher): What message do you have for fans who have been eagerly awaiting your return?

Prepare to fall in love with Ruby Yi. If you can find yourself a friend like Abby, “grapple her to your soul with hoops of steel.” And don’t believe everything you read. 😉
